We hear from Jiaqi Luo Business Development Director at Extra Aile, which runs Globuy and Globuy X

Online shopping, live streaming, and WeChat is a trend that has been growing steadily in China over the past years. For travel retailers, it opens up an array of possibilities to attract new, younger and more engaged customers than ever before.

One of the shopping platforms collaborating with travel retailers on WeChat is Globuy along with Globuy X, the WeChat Mini Program, run by Extra Aile. We have spoken to Extra Aile Business Development Director Jiaqi Luo, who explained the different ways in which travel retailers can benefit from the particular ecosystem which is WeChat, and how this strategy is helping with their omnichannel approach.

Globuy is currently ramping up its live-streaming activity, while also expanding its collaboration with China Duty Free Group in extra locations, including Sanya.

“Sanya is no doubt going to be amongst the hot destinations for Chinese travelers. I personally think this is a really smart move,” she told DFNI Associate Editor Alison Farrington when asked about the two new stores where Globuy will be available in Sanya.

“Since March, many Chinese, as well as Daigou, fly to Hainan to shop, and even long queues have appeared at the door. The sales of CDF Sanya increased by 30% against the trend in the three-day Qingming Holidays, and the growth rate since April has further increased.”
